Judith Lawson
Judith Lawson is a resident multidisciplinary visual artist. She works with paint, found materials, photography and small sculpture. She is also a member of Re-Use Collective with 7 other artists working with found materials.
Judith’s art practice is driven by a love of the natural world, the precariousness of ecology and the drastic environmental impacts of an obsessive culture of consumption. She is interested in human concepts of value, the elevation and transformation of materials commonly perceived as waste and the place for landscape painting in a world post- landscape. Informed by historical painters, working in a different time yet still driven to
record something of the atmosphere of the world today.
A strong believer in the connective and beneficial power of art, Judith is also an Accredited Mediator, she is interested in working with art in communities to engage and challenge behaviours regarding consumer culture and waste.
